The PM Scholarship 2024, also known as the Prime Minister Scholarship, aims to support dependent wards and widows of State Police personnel. As well as members of the Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles (CAPFs & AR) in their pursuit of further professional and technical education. This program, which was started in 2006–07, is administered by the Welfare and Rehabilitation Board of the Indian government’s Ministry of Home Affairs. Thousands of students have been influenced by this program, and many have found it easy to pursue their ideal jobs. The Indian government launched the PM Scholarship 2024 to help such kids. This program has made it easier for many students to follow their academic career goals.
About Kendriya Sainik Board Secretariat
The Ministry of Defense’s Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW) has a connected office called the Kendriya Sainik Board Secretariat. the KSB interacts with different departments within the State and District Organizations as well as the Central Organization. The Rajya/Zila Sainik Boards and the Kendriya Sainik Board at the Center are in charge of developing policies and carrying out welfare and resettlement programs for widows, ex-servicemen, and their dependents living in their respective States, Union Territories, or districts. In the nation, there are 414 Zila Sainik Boards and 34 Rajya Sainik Boards. The Department of Sainik Welfare in the States and UTs receives advice from the KSB Secretariat on a range of issues relating to the welfare of widows, handicapped soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their dependents.

Objective PMSS Scholarship 2024
The primary objective of PMSS Scholarship 2024 is to provide financial assistance to the students and children of ex-soldiers or policemen. Although this program helps 2,000 qualified applicants annually, the number of females who receive the scholarship is equal to the number of boys who receive it. But the scholarship awarded to ladies is ₹3,000 per month, while the scholarship awarded to boys is ₹2,500 per month, paid once a year. With the help of this financial assistance, the students and children of former police and army officials can study without the burden of money. They can pursue their dreams with this help.
Eligibility Criteria
The following are the main requirements that applicants must meet in order to be eligible for this scholarship:
- The applicant must be a dependent ward or widow of former Coast Guard members or military members.
- With the exception of lateral entry and integrated courses, students must have enrolled in a UG course during their first year.
- The candidate must have completed Class 12, diploma, or graduation with a minimum educational qualification (MEQ)* of 60% or above.
Number of Scholarship
- A total number of 5500 wards/ widows of Ex-servicemen are selected for scholarship in each academic year. Scholarships are equally divided amongst boys and girls i.e. 2750 each.
Required documents
- The Aadhaar card of the student
- Matriculation certificate to confirm birthdate
- Certificate of ex-servicemen or ex-coast guard, properly completed and signed by ZSB/Coast Guard Headquarters in accordance with Annexure-1
- According to Annexure, the Bonafide certificate must be properly completed and signed by the institute’s or college’s vice chancellor, principal, associate dean, registrar, director, or deputy director.
- 2 A bank certificate from the student attesting to the connection between the student’s Aadhaar card and bank account number, as shown in Annexure-3
- Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) certificate as applicable, including
- Class 12 grade report, graduation (all three years), or diploma
- The student’s name, account number, and IFS code of the bank PPO/ESM identity card for Category 6 are prominently displayed on the first page of the bank passbook (ideally PNB/SBI only), along with the following supporting documentation in case of Categories 1–5:
- Category 1: POR for the Air Force; general form for the Navy; and Part II order for the Army
- Category 5: Gazette notice and award certificate
- Category 6: The original identity card of the PPO or ESM (should be scanned and submitted)

Priority for Grant of Scholarship
- Category 1 –
- Wards / Widows of ESM/ Ex-Coast Guard personnel killed in action.
- Category 2 –
- Wards / Widows of ESM/ Ex-Coast Guard personnel disabled in action and boarded out of service with disability attributable to Military/ Coast Guard service.
- Category 3 –
- Wards / Widows of ESM/ Ex-Coast Guard personnel who died while in service for causes attributable to Military / Coast Guard Service.
- Category 4 –
- Wards / Widows of ESM/ Ex-Coast Guard personnel disabled in service with disability attributable to Military/ Coast Guard Service.
- Category 5 –
- Wards / Widows of ESM/ Ex-Coast Guard personnel in receipt of gallantry awards.
- Category 6 –
- Wards / Widows of ESM/ Ex-Coast Guard personnel (PBOR Only).
Eligible courses
The Eligibility Criteria for PMSS Courses are as follows:
- First Professional Degree Courses including integrated degree courses as per PMSS approved list of courses like BE, B.Tech, BDS, MBBS, B.Ed, BBA, BCA, B Pharma, BA.LLB, etc. duly recognized by the respective. Government Regulatory Bodies, such as the All-India Council for Technical Education, National Medical Commission, UGC etc.
- · Master Degree Courses are not eligible for PMSS except MBA / MCA Courses.
- · Students studying abroad are not eligible for this scheme.
- · No distance learning/vocational course is permitted under PMSS.
- · PMSS can be availed by students for One Course only.
Selection of Students
Candidates will be chosen if they meet the qualifying requirements. The following will be the order of preference for choosing candidates:
- Category 1: ESM and former Coast Guard personnel’s widows and wards who were killed in combat
- Category 2: Wards of ESM and former Coast Guard members who were disabled while serving and who were discharged due to a condition resulting from their military or Coast Guard service
- Category 3: The widows and wards of ESM and former Coast Guard members who lost their lives while serving for reasons related to their military or Coast Guard duty
- Category 4: ESM/Ex-Coast Guard wards of handicapped service members whose disabilities are related to their military or Coast Guard service
- Category 5: Widows and wards of ESM and former Coast Guard members who have received decorations for heroism
- Category 6: ESM/former Coast Guard wards/widows (PBOR Only)

PM Scholarship Apply Online (Fresh) 2024
- Visit the KSB website ,
- Choose the PMSS link for the List of Documents to be Uploaded, and Get Annexures 1, 2, and 3 in one minute. Fill out these three Annexures completely.
- Please avoid from using any other format, even your own. Any signature on the same annexure that is not from an authorized signatory will be rejected.
- Visit the KSB website at Before beginning to complete your online Fresh Application, you need have the following: –
- (a) Fully completed and signed by ZSB/Coast Guard HQ ESM/Ex Coast Guard certificate as per Annexure-1 [Original to be scanned and submitted]
- (b) A genuine certificate in accordance with Annexure-2, properly completed and signed by the vice chancellor, principal, associate dean, registrar, director, or deputy director of the College or Institute [Scan and upload the original]
- (c) A bank certificate attesting to the student’s Aadhaar Card being connected to their bank account number in accordance with Annexure-3 [Scan and upload the original]
- (d) A matriculation certificate (original to be scanned and submitted) to confirm the date of birth (e) A certificate of Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ), if appropriate (12th), graduation (three years’ worth of marks from all semesters), or diploma (all semesters’ worth of marks) [Scan and upload the original]
- (f) The first page of the bank passbook (only PNB/SBI) that prominently displays the student’s name, account number, and bank’s IFS code [original to be scanned and uploaded]
- (g) The student’s Aadhaar card (original should be scanned and submitted)
- (h) A copy of the Army’s Part II Order and the Air Force’s POR/ PPO/ESM Identity Card for Category 6 and Gen Form (Navy) supporting Categories 1 through 5 must be scanned and uploaded in their original form.
- (j) In the event that the ward was born after retirement, an affidavit or self-attested certificate (original to be scanned and submitted) (k) ESM’s passport-size picture Under the PMSS link, click the Apply Online link.
- A new window will open in one minute. Initially Click the upload button after uploading a passport-sized photo.
- If you haven’t registered yet, please enter your ESM information in all the boxes that show up in the Part 1 and Part 2 window and click submit.
- Following registration, the system will automatically produce your login ID, password, and link, which will be delivered to the email address you provided in Registration Part
- Following a successful registration Please click the activation link that will be sent to the user’s email.
- After selecting the activation link, a window will open. Enter your User Name (Login ID) and Password to access your dashboard. Alternatively, go to www.online.ksb.gov.in, click the login option, and enter your login information.
- Click “New Application” after logging in, then choose Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme.
- Please complete all the boxes in Parts 1, 2, and 3 of the windows, scan the original copies of all necessary papers, and submit the readable documents to the appropriate application location.
- Save and Forward (The student or ESM is responsible if the application is not saved and transmitted). If necessary, kindly inquire with your ZSB regarding the availability of your application on their portal.
- The application will remain pending on your dashboard and not be taken into consideration if you save it and do not transmit it.
Login for PM Scholarship
- Step 1: visit the KSBS website
- Step 2: the dashboard of the website will open and you have to click on Login on the top of the screen
- Step 3: after clicking on that you will be redirected to another page
- Step 4: here you have to fill all the required information such as username password and verification code and then click on Login. You will be logged in this way.
PM Scholarship Renewal Online
- The student can apply for renewal of scholarship within ONE YEAR from declaration of result.
- Processing of renewal applications is done as and when received throughout the year.
- However, during the period from January to May, processing, selection, and preparation of the merit list of new applications (1st year students) is being done by KSB.
- It is to be noted that the application status is showing pending to you, but on the ground, your application is in process at different levels/functionaries i.e. at the User level, Supervisory level, and finally by JD (PMSS) of KSB.
- On approved by JD (PMSS), the list of students is sent to the Account Officer of KSB to process the payment through the concerned bank.
- In the cases where the application status is showing ‘New’ to the student’s dashboard, it indicates that the application is NOT yet submitted by the ESM/Student and the application is still with the ESM/student’s dashboard.
- In such cases, ESM/Student is required to open the application and click on the save and forward button to submit the application for onward processing.
- Student ESM to keep in mind the periodicity of checking of applications (new and renewal) before raising any query relating to the checking/payment status of applications.
- Therefore, have PATIENCE and check your e-mail / KSB account for regular updates.
