Eligibility Criteria
- New students submitting applications to the University of Melbourne for graduate research degrees

Financial Benefits
- For up to two years for students pursuing a Master by Research degree or up to 3.5 years for students pursuing a PhD, a living allowance of $38,500 per year pro rata (2025 full-time study rate) is provided.
- The living allowance includes limited paid parental, maternity, and sick leave and may be adjusted yearly.
- For students relocating from states or territories other than Victoria, the relocation award is $2000; for students relocating from outside Australia, it is $3000.

Selection Process
- Eligible candidates are evaluated and graded based on their research potential in their field of study as well as their academic performance from their most recent degree.
- Considerations may include things like having completed a degree at the same level as the research course for which the scholarship is being sought, having relevant work experience, having published work that has been peer-reviewed, having specialized medical training, or having written original music.

Application Process
- You will be automatically eligible for the Graduate Research Scholarships if you are a new student and you apply for a graduate research course by the course’s application deadline. Within ten business days after submitting your course application through the UOM Website, you will be notified that a scholarship application has been added to your file.
- You must submit an online application by October 31st in order to be eligible for a scholarship the following year if you accepted an offer of a graduate research course and postponed commencement.
- To be eligible for a scholarship the following year, you must submit an online application by October 31 if you are now enrolled in a graduate research course for which you are applying.
