The Ministry of Labour and Employment Department has launched a labour card scholarship. To help the financially unstable wards of beedi, cine, IOMC, and LSDM workers. Under this scholarship, the selected students will get financial support from the Government of India. All the students who clear the eligibility criteria will be eligible to apply for a Labour Card Scholarship 2024. With the help of this scholarship, students can continue their education without worrying about any financial trouble. Overview of Labour Card Scholarship 2024
To help the financially backward children of organised sector workers, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has launched a labour card scholarship. All the students who will get selected for this scholarship will get financial assistance from the Government of India. The student who clears the eligibility criteria can fill out the application form on the official website of the national scholarship portal before 8th January 2024. Only the children of unorganised sector workers are eligible to apply for this scholarship. With the help of this scholarship, the students will be able to achieve their dreams and can overcome financial troubles.

Objective of Labour Card Scholarship
The main objective of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to the children of unorganised sector workers in India. All the students who want to pursue higher education but cannot face financial trouble can avail the benefit of this scholarship scheme. This scheme will help in increasing the education rate among financially backward students of India. All the students whose family income is less than INR 10,000 per month can avail the benefit of this scheme. The financial assistance under this scheme will directly be transferred into the bank account of the beneficiaries through the DBT system.

Financial Assistance for Education to the Wards of Beedi/Cine/IOMC/LSDM Workers – Pre Matric and Post Matric
The Ministry of labour and Employment has launched financial assistance for the education of Wards of Beedi/Cine/IOMC/LSDM Workers – Pre Matric and Post Matric. To help the children of Beedi/Iron Ore Mines, Manganese Ore & Chrome Ore Mines (IOMC)/Limestone Mines, Dolomite Mines (LSDM)/Mica Mines and Cine Workers. Under this scheme, INR 1000 to INR 25000 will be provided to the student. The financial assistance and others in the scheme will directly be transferred into the bank account of the beneficiaries through dbt mode. The types of this scheme are as follows:-
- Scheme for Award of Financial Assistance for Education (Scholarship) to the Children of Beedi Workers.
- Scheme for Award of Financial Assistance for Education (Scholarship) to the Children of Iron Ore, Manganese Ore & Chrome Ore Mine (IOMC) Workers.
- Scheme for Award of Financial Assistance for Education (Scholarship) to the Children of Limestone & Dolomite Mine (LSDM) Workers.
- Scheme for Award of Financial Assistance for Education (Scholarship) to the Children of Cine Workers.
Eligibility Criteria
- The parents of the students should be Beedi, Iron Ore Manganese & Chrome Ore Mines, Limestone & Dolomite Mines, and Cine workers with at least six months of service. This also includes Contract/Gharkhata (Home Based) workers.
- The total monthly Income of the Worker’s family from all sources should not exceed as under-
- a. Beedi Workers – Rs.10,000/-
- b. Mine Workers –
- The Mineworkers doing manual, unskilled, highly skilled and clerical work are eligible for availing all facilities under different welfare schemes of the Labour Welfare Organization irrespective of the wages paid to them.
- The persons employed in supervisory and managerial capacity are eligible for availing of the facilities under different welfare schemes subject to the wage limit of Rs.10,000/- per month.
- Cine workers – “An amount not exceeding Rs.8,000/- per month where such amount is paid monthly or an amount not exceeding Rs.1,00,000/- where it is paid by way of lump sum or instalments; as remuneration of a cine worker for the purpose of this Act.”
- The Applicant must have passed the last qualifying examination on the first attempt. However, Students promoted to the next class are also eligible to apply for the above scholarships.
- The Scholars pursuing studies through Correspondence are not eligible.
- Candidates for the award of scholarships should have taken regular admission for studies at recognized institutions in India in any course of general or technical education, including medical, engineering and agricultural studies. However, the following category of students is not eligible for the award of scholarships under the scheme.:-
- Students who, after passing one stage of education, are studying in the same stage of education in a different subject. e.g. B.Sc. after B.Com. or B.Com. after B.A. or M.A. in one subject after M.A. in another subject.
- Students who after having completed their educational career in one professional line, continue education in a different professional line, e.g. L.L.B. after B.T. or B.Ed.
- The Educational Institute must be a Government/Government Recognized Institute.
- Students who receive scholarships or stipends from any other source will not be granted under this Scheme.
- The scholarship sanctioned is liable to be cancelled on the following occasions:-
- a. If the scholar is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statements.
- b. If the scholarship discontinues his/her studies, the scholarship shall be stopped from the date of such discontinuance.
- c. If the scholar changes the subject of the course of study for which the scholarship was initially awarded or changes the Institution of Study without the prior approval of the Welfare Commissioner.
- d. If the scholar fails to make satisfactory progress in the studies or is irregular in attendance or is guilty of misconduct during the academic year for which the scholarship has been granted.
- e. If the parent(s) of the scholar ceases to be a Beedi/Mine/Cine worker.
- The Scholar should have a separate bank account. In the case of a Joint Account, the first name should be of the Scholar.
- More than one child of the same worker also should furnish a separate bank account number.
- Each Scholar is required to furnish a separate Mobile Number.

- The candidates will first have to visit the National Scholarship Portal Website
- The home page will open on your screen.
- You have to click on the option called New Registration
- The instructions will open on your screen.
- Tick mark the declaration.
- You have to click on the option called the “Continue” option.
- Enter all of the details.
- Enter name, date of birth, mobile number, gender, email ID, bank details etc.
- Enter the captcha code
- Click the “Register” option.
- Now you have to log in using your credentials.
