- The students must have passed class 12th from a recognised Board of Secondary Education in India or be first-year undergraduate students.
- The students must belong to a socially and economically disadvantaged section, including SC/ST/OBC/BPL Category.
- For merit-cum based on financial grants, the general categories students must have obtained at least 90% marks in their Higher Secondary examination or have been able to get admission in the first year Institution of excellence in the country
