The scholarship is available by the Government of Karnataka to provide financial assistance to the people who are coming from the economically backward section of society. There are two types of scholarships available by the government. This scholarship is also available for students who are currently studying in school. The scholarship is also available for people who have been admitted to colleges or universities to pursue further education. Overview of BCWD Scholarship Karnataka 

BCWD Scholarship is presented by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka. The scholarship is available for people who are coming from the economically backward section of society in Karnataka state. If you have completed your board exams, you can apply for the scholarship. You can also fill out the application form for the scholarship if you have not completed your board exams and you want financial assistance to complete your school education. Objective of BCWD Scholarship 2024

The Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka has created numerous scholarship schemes to provide financial assistance to the students coming from the economically backward section of the society. There are two types of scholarships available by the organization for the help of the students. The students who are currently in school can apply for BCWD Scholarship to get financial assistance. The students who have completed their school can apply for scholarships to get financial assistance and motivation to pursue higher education. The objective of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance and motivation to Karnataka students.

What is a Pre Matric Scholarship?

Pre-matric scholarships are available for students who have not yet passed class 12th board exams and are currently studying in school. People who are not able to continue their school education due to the lack of financial assistance can apply for the scholarship by visiting the official website. These types of scholarships are only available for students from the economically backward section of society. Try to fill out the application form for the scholarship before the last date to be eligible for the financial assistance presented by the organisation. The last date for the scholarship will be listed on the official website of the Karnataka Government. 

What is a Post Matric Scholarship?

Post-matric scholarships are available for people who have completed their class 12 board exams in the Karnataka state. If you have got good marks in your board exams then you can fill out the application form for this scholarship by visiting the official website. You will be eligible for financial assistance. Try to fill out the application form before the last date to get financial assistance. The eligibility criteria for the scholarship will be tested on the official website of the organisation. Eligibility Criteria 

Pre-Matric Scholarship

• 1. Students belonging to Backward Classes Category I, 2A, 3A and 3B.
• 2. The annual income of the student’s family should be below Rs. 44,500 / -.
• 3. Students of Backward classes studying in Government / government-recognized aided/ unaided schools are eligible.
• 4. Students studying in government / government-aided hostels / residential schools are not eligible for scholarships.
• 5. Only those with more than 75 percent attendance in the previous class are eligible.
• 6. Students who have failed in the previous class are not eligible for scholarships.

Post-Matric Scholarship

• 1. He/she must be a citizen of India and a Permanent Resident of Karnataka and belong to the caste included in the Backward Classes list specified by the Government of India or the State Government.
• 2. Backward classes who are pursuing post-matric education in government / local body / Aided institution / Recognized unaided private institutions affiliated to the statutory universities of Karnataka are eligible for post-matric scholarships.
• 3. Students admitted to government hostels / residential colleges are not eligible for post-matric scholarships.
• 4. The annual income limit has been fixed at Rs. 2.50 lakh for Category- I students and Rs. 1.00 lakh for Category – 2A, 3A, and 3B.
• 6. If attending the equivalent courses more than once, Not eligible for scholarships.
• 7. Only two male members of the same family are eligible for the scheme. This restriction does not apply to females.
• 8. Post-matric scholarships per month for post-matric students attending various courses for a period of 10 months will be granted after considering eligibility and income limit.

Selection Process 

Students will be selected based on the selection procedure presented separately for the pre-matric and the post-matric scholarship scheme given here: 

For Pre-Matric Scholarship

• priority: Granting scholarships to all eligible renewed students.
• Second priority: Granting scholarships to all students of Backward Classes Category-I
• Third priority: The remaining amount will be granted to the eligible class 2A, 3A, 3B and other backward classes (only castes listed in the backward category of the central government) as per the following criteria:

For Post-Matric Scholarship

• Applications are invited from eligible students in SSP software online.
• Students have to submit an online Application along with prescribed documents and bank account numbers IFSC code, caste and income certificate, previous class marks card etc. online and submit the hard copy to concerned colleges.
• College Principals and Inspection Officers will review the application and documents at the relevant level and Confirm Online and the said documents should be submitted to the concerned taluk backward classes welfare officers.
• The scholarship will be granted to the eligible students on the basis of merit and marks in accordance with the district grant made available in the respective year.
• Selected eligible applications will be granted scholarships on reservation policy and deposited directly into the student’s bank account through Treasury-2 software, in accordance with the respective year’s budget.
