The government of West Bengal has launched the Sikshashree scholarship for the scheduled caste and the scheduled tribe category Students of the state. The main aim of this scholarship is to provide educational opportunities to the underprivileged society to improve the literacy ratio of the state. What Is Sikshashree Scholarship 2024?
‘Shikshashree’ scheme of assisting SC day scholars of Class V-VIII is evolved by merging the existing schemes of Book Grants and Maintenance Grant. This will only be available for the students who belong to the scheduled caste of the scheduled tribe category and are permanent residents of West Bengal State because the Sikshashree Scholarship is created to provide financial opportunities to the people who belong to underprivileged societies. Benefits Of Sikshashree Scholarship
The following benefits will be provided to the people who get selected for this scheme:-
- The applicant will be provided with a stipend of Rupees 800 per year.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for this scheme:-
- The applicant must belong to the scheduled caste or the scheduled tribe category.
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal State.
- The applicant must have a low family income.
- The applicant must be studying in classes 5th to class 8th in government and government-aided schools.
- For SC Students –
- Students should belong to Scheduled Caste with proper certification as embodied in the body of the application form.
- The annual family income of the student should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakhs. A certificate to that effect needs to be provided by the competent authority as embodied in the application form.
- Only day scholars belonging to West Bengal can apply for this scholarship.
- He/she should be a regular full-time student reading in a Government School/Government aided School and Govt. recognized schools in West Bengal.
- The award once made will continue subject to subsequent application of the student up to class VIII and good conduct and attendance and otherwise being eligible.
- He/she should not get any other scholarship or stipend in any form for the same period.
- In case it is detected that the incumbent has drawnn any amount of similar character from any other source this scholarship has to be refunded.
- He/she should be a holder of a bank account in a nationalized bank with a core banking facility.
- Scholarships for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, he/she would not get a scholarship for that class for a second year. However, if he or she is promoted to the next class subsequently he/she will enjoy the benefit provided the incumbent applicant is otherwise eligible.
- For ST Students –
- Students should belong to Scheduled Tribe with proper certification as embodied in the body of the application form.

Application Process Of Sikshashree Scholarship 2024
To apply for this prestigious scheme the applicant will have to follow the following application procedure:-

- You have to take a printout of the application form and fill the application form accordingly.
- Attested copies of all documents in support of claims for a scholarship are to furnish along with this application.
- Original documents will require to produce for verification at the time of submission.
- Payment of the scholarship will be only through Bank Account
- These entrust officers will name after “Nodal Officer Sikshashree …………… School.” They will be responsible for the implementation of the Sikshashree Scheme in that school. Application forms should print by the P.O cum DWO/ DWO and supplied at the block level for availability at schools. However, forms can also use by copying, photo coping, typing, handwriting, or downloading from the official website of the BCW Department.
