The Right to Education Act makes education a fundamental right for every child between the age of 6 to 14 and specifies minimum norms in elementary schools. But there are many students whose financial condition is not strong and they cannot be admitted to the school. So by taking all these points in view, the CBSE SHRESHTA Scholarship Scheme 2023 is launched which involves the distribution of scholarships directly to the school and gives admission to the shortlisted students. Which CBSE informs that the scholarship covers school fees including the tuition fee and hostel fee for the meritorious students from class 9th and 11th from the SC community. The students will be selected for the scheme via an entrance exam conducted by NTA.
About CBSE SHRESHTA Scholarship Scheme 2023
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is going to roll out a scheme for Residential Education for SC students in High Schools in targeted areas, SHRESHTA from the academic year 2023. SHRESHTA scheme is introduces for the students of class 9th and 11th belonging to the Scheduled Caste communities. The selection for the scholarship is on the basis of NETS (National entrance test for SHRESHTA exam). The exam will conduct at the National Level by the National Testing Agency(NAT) and the exam will conduct in Computer Based Mode. Students who qualified for the SHRESHTA exam will shortlist for admission to the CBSE affiliated schools.

Objective of CBSE SHRESHTA Scholarship Scheme
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is launching a Residential Education scheme for Scheduled Caste students. The aim is to provide a scholarship that covers all the educational expenses for the meritorious students from class 9th and 11th.
Students who are selected on the basis of entrance exams which are conduct in Computer Based Mode. The shortlist students get admission in CBSE affiliated schools for their higher education. The scheme is introduces for the academic session of 2022- 2023.
Benefits of CBSE SHRESHTA Scholarship Scheme
The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued an important notice on SHRESHTA. The centrally funded scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for Residential Education for Meritorious Scheduled Caste students. The scheme inverse disbursement of scholarships directly to the admission granting schools the scholarship covers School fees, Tuition fees, and Hostel fees including mess charges subject to maximum limits. The scheme also provides an opportunity for affiliated schools for onboarding in the development intervention offering high-quality education to the meritorious students of SC communities.
Eligibility Criteria for Scheme
Be eligible for SHRESHTA scholarship the applicant must follow all these steps:
- The application must be a permanent resident of India.
- He/ She must belong to the Scheduled Caste community.
- The scheme is only for the students from class 9th and 11th.
- If an applicant clears the National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA then he or she will get the benefits of the scholarship.
