About PM Scholarship Scheme
The Prime Minister of India started a new scholarship scheme specially available for the wards of government officers. Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme will be available from 16th August 2021 and the applicants are advised to apply for this scholarship before the last date. Number of Scholarships Available/Amount
The following number of awards will be provided to the people who are applying for this scholarship:-
- A total number of 5500 wards/widows of Ex-servicemen are selected for a scholarship in each academic year.
- The scholarships are equally divided amongst boys and girls i.e. 2750 each.
- The scholarships are paid for a period of one to five years as per the duration of the courses approved by the concerned regulatory bodies.
- The scholarship amount is paid annually to the selected students.

Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria in order to successfully apply for this scholarship scheme:-
- Students who have taken admitted in 1st year (except for Lateral Entry & Integrated Course) are only eligible to apply for PMSS.
- Students should have scored 60% and above in Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) i.e. 10+2 / Diploma / Graduation.
- Students studying in 2nd or subsequent years are not eligible (except for integrated courses – where 1st portion is academic and 2nd portion is integrated as professional courses).
- Students who are Dependent Wards / Widows of Ex Servicemen & Ex Coast Guard personnel.
- Wards of Civilians including Para Military Personnel are NOT ELIGIBLE.

Priority for Grant of Scholarship
The following priority will be provided to the people belonging to the different sections of the society while applying for this prestigious scholarship:-
- Category 1 Wards & Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel killed in action.
- Category 2 Wards of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel disabled in action and boarded out of service with disability attributable to Military / Coast Guard service.
- Category 3 Wards & Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel who died while in service for causes attributable to Military / Coast Guard Service.
- Category 4 Wards of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel disabled in service with disability attributable to Military / Coast Guard Service.
- Category 5 Wards & Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel in receipt of gallantry awards.
- Category 6 Wards / Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel (PBOR Only).
Eligible Courses
The following courses are eligible to apply for the scholarship presented by the concerned authorities:-
- First Professional Degree Courses like BE, B Tech, BDS, MBBS, B Ed, BBA, BCA, B Pharma, etc. duly recognized by the respective Government Regulatory Bodies, such as All India Council for Technical Education, Medical Council of India, UGC etc.
- Master Degree Courses are not eligible for PMSS except MBA / MCA Courses.
- Students studying abroad are not eligible for this scheme. No distance learning course is permitted under PMSS. PMSS can be availed for ONE COURSE only
Scholarship for Integrated Courses
The following scholarships are available for the integrated courses available by the concerned authorities of the Indian government:-
- The minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) will be 10+2. However when applying students need to upload mark sheets of 10+2 in all cases, 1st year and 2nd year (all semesters) where the 1st course is non-professional.
- There are two types of Integrated Courses (dual degree) which are discussed below:
- Integrated courses (dual degree) which have both the courses as Professional/Technical for example BE+ME, B.Tech+M.Tech, BBA+MBA, etc. In such cases, only the first professional degree will be granted a scholarship.
- Integrated Courses (dual degree) which have the first degree as Academic (Non-Professional) and the second degree as Professional/Technical for example BA + LLB, B.Com + LLB, B.Sc.+B.Ed. In such cases, students will be paid for the professional part of the course and not for the non-professional/academic part.
- Students pursuing Integrated courses wherein one degree is professional and the other degree is non-professional, he/she will be awarded a scholarship for the professional portion of the dual degree course only and not for the academic portion of such course. The same is illustrated with the help of an example:
- “In BA+LLB (dual degree course) the first degree is BA which is non-professional and 2nd degree is LLB which is professional. Therefore, scholarship for a professional portion (i.e. LLB) only will be provided”.
- When 1st degree is non-professional and 2nd degree is professional, in such cases, while seeking a PM scholarship from the third year onward student must have completed his previous two years of non-professional courses without fail. Repetition/RA/Failure will make a student ineligible to apply for a scholarship. Students should clear all subjects of the 1st & the 2nd year in the first attempt and within the stipulated time frame from the date of admission, otherwise, he/she will not be considered for the award of scholarship and the application will be rejected.
- Regulation of PM Scholarship in case of integrated courses has been further explained below:

Minimum Eligible Marks in MEQ
The candidates can check out the information related to the minimum eligible marks from the pointers given below:-
- Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) for entry to various professional courses differs e.g. for MBBS it is 10+2 whereas for BE/B Tech it is 10+2 / Diploma, for B.Ed and MBA it is graduation qualification. A candidate must have a minimum of 60% marks in MEQ to apply for the PM Scholarship Scheme. All subjects will be taken for calculation of 60% marks including optional subjects also and not out of best subjects.
Acknowledgement of Scholarship Amount from Students
The candidates can check out the information related to the acknowledgment of the scholarship from the pointers given below:-
- On receipt of the scholarship amount from KSB, the student is required to update Column 14 of the Renewal Application by logging into his/her KSB account using Log ID & Password by entering ‘DATE OF PAYMENT AND AMOUNT RECEIVED’ (two separate columns). This is a mandatory audit requirement to get the benefit of PMSS, otherwise, the scholarship will be canceled and the money already paid will be recovered. SAVE BUTTON is provided at bottom of Column 14. This action has to be completed immediately upon receipt of the scholarship amount for each installment.
Other Important Aspects for ESM/Student Relating to PMSS
The candidates will have to follow the following terms and conditions in order to successfully apply for the scholarship opportunities:-
- Students respond in time according to SMS/e-mail received from Kendriya Sainik Board.
- The E-mail and Mobile Number mentioned in the application must be of the student. An alternate Mobile Number can be ESM. E-mail and mobile number once registered should not be changed since all messages being sent to the registered email/mobile number
- During the checking of the new application if observation raised from ZSB/RSB and LSB is not rectified within the stipulated time frame of 10 days, then the application will be automatically rejected by the system. Ensure that the observation is rectified in time to avoid system rejection of the application.
- During the period from January to May, processing, selection, and preparation of the merit list of a new application (1st-year students) are being done by KSB. Processing and payment of renewal applications are done as and when received by KSB throughout the year EXCEPT from January to May. Student/ESM to keep in mind the periodicity of checking applications (new and renewal) before raising any query relating to the checking/payment status of applications.
- Students/ESM should log in to the KSB account to check the status of the application. It is to be noted that the application status is showing pending to the student dashboard, but on the ground, the application is in the process at different levels/functionaries at KSB.
- Students studying abroad, as well as distance learning case, is not eligible for PMSS
Course Eligibility
The applicant must be pursuing the following courses to take the scholarship:-
- Professional Degree Courses like BE, B.Tech, BDS, MBBS, BEd, BBS, BCA, MCA B. Pharma, etc. duly recognized by the respective Government Regulatory Bodies, such as All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Medical Council of India(MCI), University Grants Commission (UGC), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), etc. (Master Degree Courses are not eligible for PMSS except MBA, MCA).
- Students studying abroad are not eligible for this scheme.
- No distance learning course is permitted under this scheme.
- PMSS can be availed for one course only.
Documents Required
The following documents to submit in this scholarship are as follows:-
- For Fresh Applicant-
- Service Certificate issued by respective offices of the serving personnel for category IV.
- A copy of the PPO/Discharge certificate/book for Categories I, II, and III.
- Applicants are required to upload a duly attested scanned copy of the mark sheet/Grade card of MEQ i.e. 10+2/ Diploma/Graduation (as the case may be).
Renewal Application for Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for RPF/RPSF
You will have to renew your scholarship by following the step-by-step application procedure given below:-
- The renewal of the scholarship can be done by the applicant on the National Scholarship Portal using his application ID generated at the time of registration. Documents may be uploaded by the candidate including a certificate from the College/Institute indicating the percentage

Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme 2024 Application Procedure
The applicant must follow the following application procedure in order to successfully apply for this scholarship opportunity:-
- You will first have to visit the PMSS website of the scheme by clicking on the link given
- The home page will open on your screen
- You have to now click on the option called PMSS and now you have to click on the option called New Application and then click on the option called Apply Online
- Ensure the student is studying in the first year (except Integrated or Lateral Entry Courses)
- Upload a photograph of the student
- Fill up the correct Aadhaar Number of a student only at serial No 1(d). (Don’t fill up the Aadhaar Number of parents or anyone else)
- Select the CORRECT GENDER of the student as applicable at serial No 2
- Fill up the correct Date of Birth of the student as per the 10th class certificate at serial No 3
- Select the correct Marital Status of the student as applicable at serial No 4
- Select the correct Rajya Sainik Board & Zila Sainik Board where ESM has registered his name and obtained an identity card at serial No 5(c) & (d) otherwise your application will reach a different ZSB and subsequently be rejected as not being registered at that ZSB.
- Provide the correct functional telephone number, mobile number, and email Id at serial No 7. More than one mobile number and email ID can be filled up.
- Select the appropriate category and provide the relevant documents commensurate with your category at serial No 8. (If categories 1 to 5 are selected and no document is provided then the application will be rejected. For category 6, upload a copy of the PPO/ESM Identity Card.
- Fill up the correct Service Number with prefix and suffix letters at serial No 9(b).
- Fill up the correct PPO Number at serial No 9 (e).
- Select the last qualification or last exam which you have passed ie 10+2/ Diploma /Graduate at serial No 10(a).
- Fill up a year in which exam /MEQ passed which you have selected at serial No 10(a).
- Marks of all subjects of the last exam/MEQ of all semesters/academic year are to be filled up at serial No 10(c). All subjects mean all visible in the mark sheet and not out of the best subjects.
- Fill up marks obtained in all subjects of MEQ/last exam at serial No 10(d). (Not out of BEST SUBJECTS)
- Amount to be filled up other than scholarship to be awarded by KSB ie. Rs 30000/- for Boys & Rs 36000/- for Girls at 11(b). Important Not to mention the Scholarship amount of PMSS (KSB).
- Select the appropriate course name as mentioned in ‘Bonafide Certificate’ at serial No 12. If applying for Lateral Entry, select the relevant option.
- Only those students are eligible to apply who have taken admitted in the FIRST YEAR between 01 Apr to 15 Nov (except lateral entry / integrated courses). Fill up Column 14(a) in the application accordingly, dates should be the same as mentioned in the bonafide certificate (Annexure-1).
- Fill up the correct name of the Regulatory Body / Council such as AICTE – for BE/B.Tech/Management, MCI- for Medical courses, DCI – for Dental courses, etc.
- Is your bank account number linked with an Aadhaar Card Number? Please upload the certificate as provided at “Documents to be uploaded” as Annexure-3 duly signed by bank officials.
- Fill up the name of the student as a bank account holder at serial No 17(a). Ensure your Bank A/c is KYC compliance and ‘New Balance Exceeds all Maximum limit, if any, is removed Important Name of the joint account holder/father/mother is not to be filled up.
- Select bank as SBI/PNB at serial 17(b) otherwise it may delay or lead to failure payment in the transaction of the scholarship. It is suggested to open an account in PNB/SBI if you do not have one.
- Important: Fill up the correct account number at serial No 17(d). Don’t add any additional digits to complete the boxes. Only provide the account number as given in the Bank Pass Book.
- Upload Scanned Document
- Download the required documents from the website www.ksb.gov.in as suggested. Upload the correct documents at the correct place.
- ESM / Ex Coast Guard Personnel Certificate signed by ZSB/RSB (Annexure-1).
- Bonafide Certificate duly signed by Vice Chancellor/Principal/Vice Principal/ Dean/
- Associate Dean/Registrar/Dy Registrar/Director/Dy Director (Annexure-2).
- Certificate from the Bank Manager stating that the Aadhaar Card of the student is seeded with the Bank A/c No of the Student (Annexure-3).
- Mark Sheet of 10th Class to verify date of birth.
- Complete Mark Sheets of MEQ e.g.10+2 / Graduation (3 Years/all semesters)
- Diploma (6 semesters) as applicable. (NO INTERNET-GENERATED MARK SHEETS WILL BE ENTERTAINED)
- First Page of the Bank Pass Book of the Student or Canceled Cheque Leaf of the student (if the Name & A/c of the Student and IFSC code of the bank is printed on the cheque).
- Certificate Supporting the Category one / two / three / four /five. For Category 6, a copy of the PPO or ESM Identity Card is to be scanned and uploaded.
- Aadhaar Card of Student.
- Affidavit / Self Certificate of ESM (if ward born after the retirement of ESM)
- Click on Save and Forward. (If the application is not saved & forwarded, the onus lies with the student/ESM. Please check with your ZSB about your application available on their Portal (if required). If you save & do not forward, the application will be kept pending in your dashboard & will not be considered since it is not received by the ZSB.
Renewal Rules
The following rules and regulations must be followed by the authorities to fill up the renewal form for the scholarship:-
- The scholarship amount of the First Installment will be paid immediately after the selection in the merit list. For subsequent payment, the students should submit Online Renewal Application on completion of each academic year, till completion of the course.
- 50% marks are mandatory in each semester / academic year. Passing of all subjects in each semester/year in FIRST ATTEMPT is a mandatory requirement for continuation of the scholarship. If a student fails/gets RA in any subject, his / her scholarship will be closed forever. He will not be entitled to the subsequent installments of PMSS.
- The student can apply for renewal of scholarship within ONE YEAR from the declaration of result.
- Processing of renewal applications is done as and when received throughout the year EXCEPT from JAN to MAY. During this period (JAN to MAY) PMSS staff is busy with the selection and preparation of the merit list for 1st Year students. It is to be noted while the application status is showing pending to you, on the ground your application is in process at different levels/functionaries i.e. at the User level, Supervisory level, and finally by JD (PMSS) of KSB.
- On approval by JD (PMSS), the list of students is sent to the Account Officer of KSB to process the payment through the concerned bank. The processing of renewal applications and making the payment is normally done within a month’s time on receipt of renewal application from the students if the application is found OK in all respects. Therefore, have PATIENCE and check your email / KSB account for regular updates.
- Students need to ensure that their Mobile No and E-mail ID are given for PMSS to remain functional till completion of the course because all alerts and SMS about the status of their application are sent to the given Mobile No and Email. However, in case of any change, KSB must be informed accordingly for updating your record.
- The students who have already been selected for PMSS and presently studying in 2nd or subsequent year need not apply for New Application. Such students are required to apply for Renewal Application only.
Renewal Procedure
If you want to renew your scholarship then you will have to follow the simple procedure given below:-
- You will first have to visit the official website of the scheme by clicking on the link given
- The home page will open on your screen
- You have to now click on the option called PMSS and now you have to click on the option called Renewal Application and then click on the option called Apply Online
- Enter your username (registered email ID with KSB) and password and then log in, you are taken to your Dashboard. Please select New Application from the option given on the dashboard. A drop-down box will display. (Please select the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme – ‘Renewal’ from the drop-down option). Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme – Payment Cum Renewal Blank Form will be displayed.
- A Selection Serial Number blank box will appear on top.
- Enter your Selection Serial Number and click on the “Get Details” button to get your details.
- On clicking the “Get Details” button, details of student-related information will automatically be filled up in the maximum column of application by the system from the initial application of the student. Students should fill up the required information in Renewal Application correctly and upload the requisite documents.
- Serial No 1 to 4, 6 to 12 will automatically be filled up.
- Scholarship Applied For – Please select the correct ‘Installment’ as applicable at Serial No 5(a). (If 1st Instalment is already received, then select 2nd Installment and if 2nd Instalment is already received, then select 3rd Installment, and so on. Mark sheets of both semesters/academic years are to be uploaded as mentioned against each ‘Installment’.
- Fill up the Total Marks of both semesters/years at serial No 5(b).
- Fill up Marks obtained for both semesters/year at serial No 5(c).
- The percentage will automatically be calculated at serial No 5(d) when you will fill up Total Marks and
- Marks were obtained at serial No 5(b) & (c) respectively.
- Fill up if any financial assistance (other than PMSS from KSB i.e. 30,000/- for Boys & 36,000/- for Girls) at serial No 13(a) & (b).
- Important – Not to mention the scholarship amount of PMSS given by KSB.
- Fill up Scholarship Amount and Date of Receipt – Already received year-wise from PMSS at Serial No 14.
- All original documents are to be scanned and uploaded.
- Upload the documents as asked please do not use your own format or any other format. Upload the correct documents at the correct place.
- (a) Bonafide Certificate duly signed by Vice Chancellor/Principal/Vice Principal/Dean/Associate Dean/Registrar/Dy Registrar/Director/Dy Director (Annexure-1).
- (b) Examination Passing Certificate (Annexure-2).
- (c) Certificate from the Bank Manager stating that the Aadhaar Card of the student is Seeded with the Bank A/C No of the student (Annexure-3).
