General Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for the scholarship:-
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
- Be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or combined undergraduate/master’s program at an eligible institution (see list of eligible institutions by country)
- Have one to three semesters remaining in their program as of Fall 2023 (see requirement by country)
- Meet the grade requirements for their country of study (see GPA requirements for each international partner)
- Apply to a minimum of three and a maximum of seven projects and ensure selections are from at least three different Canadian provinces
- Be fluent in the oral and written language of the project (English and/or French)
- Be available to complete an internship lasting 12 consecutive weeks between May 1 and October 31

Funding Details
The students can check out the details related to the funding that will be provided to them in this internship from the details given below:-
- The AICTE-MITACS GRI Program will be jointly funded for 300 students by AICTE & MITACS as per the details below:
- i. The total cost of the program is $12,000 CAD per student.
- ii. MITACS will contribute $9,000 CAD per student.
- iii. AICTE will contribute $3,000 CAD per student.
- The full cost per student includes airfare, visa, medical, stipend, accommodation, Globalink Student Mentors, programming, and research costs. It will also include access to Globalink branded activities in Canada, which may include professional skills workshops, receptions, and industrial engagement activities.

Mitacs Globalink Research Internship 2023 Application Process
To apply for the internship you will have to follow the simple procedure given below:-
- The student fulfilling the eligibility criteria shall apply directly to MITACS Canada via the Mitacs portal
- Candidates must provide the following with their application to the AICTE-GRI Program, in accordance with the instructions on the MITACS online application portal:
- i. Official yearly transcripts for all years in university;
- ii. Curriculum Vitae (CV);
- iii. One (1) reference letter from a post-secondary academic
- supervisor or researcher and Project rationale;
- iv. Any other document(s) mentioned in MITACS GRI Portal;
- All materials submitted to MITACS must be in either English or French. If materials submitted are not in one of Canada’s official languages, notarized transcripts must be submitted.
- Before leaving the country for pursuing Globalink Research Internships (GRI) in Canada, students should have a valid passport, and have obtained all necessary documents and permissions including visas, air tickets for air travel, etc.
- Upon completion of the Internship, the candidate must submit a feedback form.
Important Dates
- April to June 2022- Faculty application: Faculty submit research projects to Mitacs. Project proposals are due June 8, 2022, by 1 p.m. PT for 2023 Globalink Research Internships.
- July to August 2022 – Faculty application vetting: Projects are reviewed by Mitacs and decisions are communicated to professors. All successful projects are made available to student applicants in an online database.
- August to September 2022 – Student application: International students submit applications and select research projects from the online database.
- October 2022- Student application vetting: Mitacs conducts an eligibility review of student applications.
- November 2022 to January 2023 – Matching: Mitacs provides professors with a shortlist of student candidates for their projects. Professors are then asked to review student applications, conduct interviews, and then rank the applicants in order of suitability. Mitacs collects student and professor rankings, then finalizes offers to students. The final results are announced in February.
- February to April 2023- Pre-internship preparation: Successful students start working with their Canadian host professors to arrange pre-internship details while Mitacs oversees logistics and coordinates with university administrative offices.
- May to October 2023- Internship: Globalink research interns arrive in Canada and work with supervising professors for 12 weeks on their research projects.
