Objective Of Free Laptop Scheme
There are many students who belong to lower categories and are not able to afford laptops or computers. Due to online classes, a laptop or computer is required. Students are facing issues because they don’t have laptops or computers to attend classes, even if they don’t have the proper knowledge to use them. This scheme will help the students to overcome all the trouble by providing them with free laptops. The government also wishes to encourage excellent students who have scored well in the 12th board examination.
Benefits Of Kerala Free Laptop Scheme
The government of Kerala has spent 311 crore rupees for the successful implementation of the scheme in the year 2021. The government has provided benefits of this scheme to 36000 college students who belong to SC ST and OBC castes. Students got laptops without paying any charges. Similarly in the year 2022, the government is going to provide free laptops to students who just have passed the 12th standard and going to take admitted to colleges.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant should be a permanent resident of Kerala
- Applicant must have passed the 12th standard examination
- In the examination, the applicant must have secured 80% or above marks
- The annual income of applicants’ families should not be more than 250000 per annum
- Applicant must belong to a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe or EWS or other backward castes.
