Dr Gita Piramal Scholarship for Indian Students 2024-25: Apply Online, Check Eligibility and Last Date

The Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development, Somerville College, and the Piramal family have partnered to create the Dr Gita Piramal Scholarship for Indian Students 2024-25 to help students from low-income families. The scholarship is given in recognition of Dr. Gita Piramal’s longstanding affiliation with Somerville College. For their kind friendship and support, the college is thankful to her and her family. The Dr. Gita Piramal Scholarship for Indian Students has been launched by Somerville College in partnership with the Piramal family and the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development. Indian students are expected to benefit from this complete scholarship, which will enable them to attend the University of Oxford and continue their studies. 

Who Announced the Dr Gita Piramal Scholarship?

• In partnership with the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development (OICSD) and the Piramal family, 
• Somerville College is pleased to announce the opening of the Dr. Gita Piramal Scholarship. 
• Indian students will get the opportunity to pursue their further education at the University of Oxford with the help of this full scholarship.

Objective of Dr. Gita Piramal Scholarship

The primary objective of Dr Gita Piramal’s Scholarship is to provide financial assistance and support to the students in India so they can pursue their higher studies abroad. The Dr. Gita Piramal Scholarship, which provides complete tuition and a living stipend, is said to be designed to uplift the best Indian brains. This scholarship will be awarded for the first five years to students who are financially challenged. This scholarship also would enhance India’s intellectual pool and support the nation’s long-term development. Scholarship will help Indian students receive quality education and a large experience in college.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must be ordinarily resident in India
• The candidate should be a graduate.
• Candidates must have all the documents present with them.
• Candidates should have a marksheet for passing the graduation.

Financial Benefits

• The scholarship includes a living expense award, a travel allowance, and course fees. Awards are given for the length of the course fee obligation.

Number of Scholarships

One scholarship is available for 2025 entry.

Selection Process 

• Only at Somerville is this scholarship viable. Regardless of the college choice listed in the graduate application, all qualified applicants who submit their applications for graduate studies before the applicable funding deadline will be taken into consideration. Those that are accepted will be moved to Somerville to accept the scholarship. Interviews and shortlisting are expected to occur in April 2025. 

• At the end of February 2025, an email will be sent to all applicants who have applied for one of the relevant courses and who fulfill the residence requirements. To confirm that their studies are pertinent to the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development and that they would wish to be considered for the scholarship, they will be asked to fill out a brief online form.

• Step 4: Select the “Find a Course” option now. 
• Step 4: Next, pick “Postgraduate” and press it. After choosing the course, click the “Apply Now” button. 
• Step 5: After entering the necessary data and uploading the necessary documents, submit. 
• Step 6: Candidates will be immediately evaluated for possible scholarships based on their athletic or academic accomplishments if accepted.
