About Kendriya Sainik Board Scholarship

Kendriya Sainik board scholarship is also known as the prime minister scholarship scheme was launched in the academic year 2006-07. The main aim of launching this scholarship is to provide scholarships to the dependent wards and widows of ex-servicemen, and ex-coast guard personnel who have died or got disabled in hardness due to causes attributable. With the help of the Kendriya Sainik Board Scholarship, the words of ex-servicemen will be able to pursue higher and professional education without thinking about any financial hurdles. Objective Of Kendriya Sainik Board Scholarship

There are many ex-servicemen and ex-coast guard personnel who died in harnesses and got disabled due to causes attributable to military service. And due to this, their children are not able to continue their higher studies. Keeping this in mind, the government of India has launched this scholarship. Under this scheme, educational opportunities will be given to the wards and widows of ex-servicemen and ex-Coast Guard personnel. With the help of this they will be able to stand on their own feet without thinking about any financial hurdles.

Scholarship Amount Under Scheme

The following scholarship amount will be given to the wards of ex-servicemen

For Boys	Rs. 2,500 per month
For Girls	Rs. 3,000 per month

Selection Criteria Of Scholarship

The selection criteria of the student is given as per the order of preference

• 1st Category- Wards & widows of ESM/ Ex Coast Guard personnel killed in action
• 2nd Category- Wards of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel disabled in action and boarded out of service with disability attributable to Military / Coast Guard service.
• 3rd Category– Wards & Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel who died while in service for causes attributable to Military / Coast Guard service.
• 4th Category-  Wards of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel disabled in service with disability attributable to Military / Coast Guard Service.
• 5th Category– Wards & Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel in receipt of gallantry awards.
• 6th Category– Wards / Widows of ESM / Ex Coast Guard personnel

Duration Of Scholarship

The duration of Kendriya Sainik board Scholarship is of:

• 2 to 5 years of the course approved by the concerned department
• And for the B.ed it is for one year

Eligibility Criteria

The following eligibility criteria are required to avail of the benefit under the scholarship.

• An applicant must be taking admission in the first year
• The candidate must have scored at least 60% marks in their last examination
• Students who are studying in their second or subsequent years are not eligible except for integrated course
• Applicants who are dependant wards/ widows of ex-servicemen and Ex coast guard personnel are eligible to apply
• Wards of civilians including Para-Military Personnel are not eligible
