Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for the NEC Merit Scholarship, the applicant must meet the following eligibility criteria these are as follows:- 

• The applicant must be a permanent citizen of any one of the North Eastern states of India.
• Applicant can receive their scholarship amount only through the official National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
• This scholarship is only available for those students who get their admission either in Diploma, Degree, Post-graduate, or registration in M.Phil. / Ph.D from any institution recognized by the Government of the state. 
• The scholarship amount for M.Phil. and PhD. Is only available for 2 and 3 years respectively.
• Applicants can receive the scholarship amount only up to the duration of the fulfillment of the course, once the course is completed then applicants are ineligible to receive further benefits of this scholarship. 
• Under this scholarship, those applicants who already enrolled in any other scholarship are not able to apply for the NEC Merit Scholarship.
• This scholarship is not available for internship or any other practical training purposes. 
• Applicant must have to qualify their previous examination with at least 60%.
• Applicant must have their own bank account linked with an Aadhar card. 
• The annual income of the applicant’s family must not be more than Rs. 8.00 lakh per annum from all sources.

To apply online for the NEC Merit Scholarship applicant needs to follow some simple steps these are as mentioned below:

• Step 1: After clearing, all the eligibility criteria applicant must visit the official NSP portal.

• Step 2: Once the applicant reaches the homepage of the official website applicant needs to go to the Apply Online option, and read all the information open on the screen.

• Step 3: Now from the homepage applicant needs to go to the Login option and then click on the Renew Login option.
