Eligibility Criteria
- A Ph.D. in any biotechnology, biological sciences, or allied discipline is required of the candidate, who must be an Indian national.
- This fellowship will only be available for research initiatives that will be carried out in DBT-Autonomous Institutes.
- No university or institution should hire the candidate permanently.
- The applicant’s peer-reviewed articles developed technologies, and (if relevant) patents should all indicate an exceptional record.
- Although fellowships cannot be utilized until the degree has been given, Ph.D. applicants are also encouraged to apply.
- The candidate shouldn’t take a fellowship at the same university where they earned their PhD.
- Each candidate must select a host institution and a mentor.
- The maximum age will be 35 as of the application submission date.
- The candidates include Candidates are not allowed to hold more than one fellowship at the same time.
- The application, which must be submitted via the host institute (DBT Autonomous Institute) that the candidate has chosen to accept the fellowship, must be signed by the mentor and the head of the institution.
Fellowship Stipend
- A total monthly compensation of Rs. 90,000 is offered under the scheme.
- Additionally, MKB-YRFP fellows will get a research/contingency award of Rupees 20.00 lakh each year to assist with employing personnel, buying consumables and small equipment, domestic travel, and other unforeseen costs that may arise during the execution of the fellowship-selected research project.
- Under them, they are able to engage one employee (JRF, SRF, Project Assistant, or Project Associate).
- Capital equipment shall be bought in the name of the organization where the fellow intends to work, and its total cost shouldn’t be more than Rs. 10 lakhs.

Duration and No of Fellowship
- There will be up to 50 fellowships awarded annually. Depending on a new evaluation, the fellowship’s maximum tenure of three years may be extended by an additional two years in exceptional circumstances.
