About ESSA
Children of active Army troops and MNS are eligible to apply for financial aid under the Education Scholarship Scheme for Army troops (ESSA), a merit-based scholarship program that supports their pursuit of higher education. Candidates must be enrolled in classes 9 through post-graduation and be the wards of active duty members of the Army and MNS. Additionally, at the time of course completion, they must be under 25 years of age. Depending on the educational degree, the scholarship amount changes as follows: Class 9–12: 1,500 Indian rupees annually, Graduation: rupees 2,500, Professional/PG courses: 6,000 Indian rupees annually.

Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for applying under this scheme is given below:-
- Only the wards of all serving Army Personnel and MNS officers are eligible for applying under this scheme.
- Applicant/ ward must not have attained 25 years of age at the time of completion of class/course from IX to PG level of education.
- Wards of Retired Army personnel, Territorial Army personnel (TA), and deceased Army personnel are not eligible.
Required Documents
The documents required for registering under this scheme are given below:-
- Certificate from the Commanding Officers (Cos) or Officer Commanding the Unit.
- Appendix ‘B’ form, duly signed by the Principal or Head of Department (HOD).
- Marksheet for the relevant year.
- Photographs of the student
- Student’s signature.
- Cancelled Cheque of the parent or student.
Financial Benefits
- Class IX and XI:- Rupees 2000/- per annum.
- Class X and XII:- Rupees 4000/- per annum.
- Graduation:- Rupees 7500/- per annum
- Post Graduation:- 10000/- per annum.
