Nagaland NMMS scholarship 2023 is now open for the students who are permanent residents of the Nagaland state and the students must be currently studying in class 8 in any type of government school available in the Nagaland state. Students must have achieved 50% marks in the class 7th exam for the scheduled tribe and the scheduled caste category however if you belong to the general category then you must have scored 55% marks in order to be considered for this prestigious scholarship scheme. Students are eligible to apply for the prestigious scholarship program if they find themselves worthy enough to write the exam and if they pass the exams then they will be getting 1000 rupees per month till they complete the class 12th board exam. Objective Of Nagaland NMMS Scholarship 2023

The National Means Come Merit Scholarship is a national scholarship that is created by the Ministry of School Education in order to provide 1 lakh scholarships every year. This scholarship is created for regular students who are currently studying in Government schools across the different states in India but the annual income of the parents must not be more than rupees 3.5 lakh per annum from all sources. Students are provided financial assistance of 1000 rupees per month if they are studying from class 9 to class 12 and through this financial assistance the students are provided opportunities to continue their education without any problem or difficulty. Students will be provided scholarship amounts in one particular installment and the amount will be directly transferred to the bank account of the beneficiaries.

Important Dates

  • The last date for the submission of the application form is 31st August 2023.
  • The examination will be conducted on 4th and November 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a regular student studying in class 8 in the Government schools of Nagaland.
  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Nagaland.
  • The applicant must have passed class 7th exams with 50% marks for SC, ST categories and 55% marks for the general category.
  • The candidates must prepare for the NMMSS examination.
  • To continue the scholarship, the awardees must pass with 55% marks relaxable by 5% for ST/SC candidates in the first attempt from class – 9 to 12.

Qualifying Marks

  • General category qualifying marks are 40% in each paper.
  • Qualifying marks for SC ST and physically challenged students are 32% in each paper.

Reservation Details

  • 27% OBC (non-creamy layer and strictly as per central list), 15% Schedule Caste, 7.5% Schedule Tribe, 4% Physically Challenged (within the category), and 10% Economically Weaker Section (EWS) as per national norms.
  • 180 scholarships are available for the Nagaland state.
Selection Procedure
  • The students have to take an examination to get the scholarship.
  • The examination consists of two papers – Mental Ability Test (MAT) & Scholastic Aptitude Test
  • The duration of the examination is 90 minutes for both papers. Physically Challenged groups of children will be given 30 minutes extra time for each paper/test. The maximum mark on each paper is 90.
  • Mental Ability Test (MAT): MAT consists of 90 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). The questions in the test may be on Verbal Tests such as number-based problems, alphabet-based problems, coding and decoding, analogy tests, Venn diagrams related problems, logic-based problems, inter-locking regions analytical reasoning, etc. and under NonVerbal Tests questions may be on series, classification/ categorization, analogy tests, completion of figures, mirror image, paper folding, and punching etc.
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): SAT consists of 90 MCQ covering Science, Social Science and Mathematics as taught in classes – 7 and 8.
Implementation Procedure
  • The awardees under this NMMS Scheme must register/submit/renew their scholarship online on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) as and when the NSP gets activated.
  • On qualifying for the Examination the awardees/candidates will be asked to open an aadhaar Bank Account in any Nationalized Bank in their own name and register themselves in the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) online. 
  • After the registration is done on NSP, the students have to download their particulars as registered in the Scholarship Portal; and submit them to the School Nodal Officer (Principal/ Headmaster) for verification at the Institute Level (Level-1 verification).
  • The Institute Nodal Officer, after verification of the student’s particulars, will then forward the particulars of the student to the District Nodal Officer (District Education Officer) for final verification and validation (Level-2 verification) for payment of the Scholarship.
  • Scholarship payment will not be possible without going through the system.
