About Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities 

The NSP Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Scholarship was created in order to empower students who have a physical or mental disability because through this department a lot of benefits will be provided to the people. Students who are coming from the economically backward section of society and are also suffering from financial incapabilities can apply for the disabilities scholarship if they follow the eligibility criteria. Type of Scholarship Under NSP Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Scholarship 

The following types of scholarships are presented by the concerned departments in order to help the students to get in the benefits:

Pre-matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

The students who are currently pursuing education below class 10th can apply for the pre-matric Scholarship scheme presented for the particular students. The students must have a disability and they must follow the eligibility criteria presented by the national scholarship portal in the official guidelines published in a PDF format on the official website. Post-matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

The students who have completed their class 10th education will be eligible to apply for the post-matric scholarship however the students must have a disability as presented in the eligibility criteria mentioned by the organization. The students can fill out the application form available at the official website of the national scholarship portal and they will be eligible to get the financial assistance directly to their bank accounts.

Scholarships for Top Class Education for students with disabilities

If you are someone who is suffering from physical disability then you can apply for this official disability scheme created by the Indian government. It is to help and empower the people who are coming from the economically backward section of society and also have a physical disability. The students will be liable to get maintenance allowance, book grants and disability allowance every month directly to their bank account.

Eligibility Criteria

Pre-matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
  • The scholarships are open only to Indian nationals.
  • All six scholarships are open to students with benchmark disability and having a valid certificate of disability as prescribed under rules issued by the competent authority. Disability is as defined in the ‘Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016’.
  • No more than two children with disabilities of the same parents will be entitled to receive the benefits of the scheme. Provided, in case the second child is a twin, the scholarship under the schemes will be admissible to the twins.
  • Scholarships for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, she/he would not get a scholarship for that class for a second (or a subsequent) year.
  • A scholarship holder under this scheme will not hold any other scholarship/stipend. If awarded any other scholarship/stipend, the student can exercise his/her option, whichever is more beneficial to him/her and should inform the awarding authority through the Head of the Institution about the option exercised. No scholarship will be paid to the students under this scheme from the date he/she accepts any other scholarship/stipend.
  • The student can, however, accept free lodging or a grant or ad-hoc monetary help from the State Government or any other source for the purchase of books, and equipment or for meeting the expenses on board and lodging in addition to the scholarship amount paid under this scheme.
  • Scholarship holders who are receiving coaching in any of the pre-examination training centers with financial assistance from the Central Government/ State Government will not be eligible for a stipend under the coaching schemes for the duration of the coaching program.
  • Pre-matric and Post-matric Scholarships shall be paid to the students whose parents/guardians’ income from all sources does not exceed Rs.2,50,000/- (Rupees two lakh fifty thousand only) per annum.
  • Top Class Education Scholarship shall be paid to the students whose parents/guardians’ income from all sources does not exceed Rs.8,00,000/- (Rupees eight lakhs only) per annum.
