Details Of The Scholarships

Central Sector Scheme for National Overseas	This scheme is for selected OBC students or professionals who wish to pursue a Master’s or Ph.D. in a foreign university. The fields of study eligible under this scheme are Engineering, Management, Agricultural Science, and Medicine. 30% of the scholarships are allotted to female applicants and 25 scholarships are provided per subject per year.  The Ph.D. candidates are offered a fellowship for 4 years and the master’s candidates are offered a fellowship for 3 years. The scholars also get other allowance apart from the scholarship prize such as incidence journey allowance, visa fees, poll tax, medical insurance, airfare, local travel allowance, and other benefits.
Merit Scholarship for OBC Students (Delhi)	The Department of the welfare of SC/ST/OBC/Minorities, Delhi offers merit-based scholarships for OBC students of class 6th to 12th and professionals in colleges or technical institutes. The maximum allowance for technical students is up to INR 1,620 per month and up to INR 4,500 per annum for other OBC students. The scholarship is divided into 3 categories: pre-matric, post-matric, and merit-cum-means.
National fellowship for OBC	This scholarship is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India to financially aid OBC students and enable them to pursue higher education leading to degrees such as M.Phil. and Ph.D. The government provides 300 scholarships for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and the scheme covers all universities recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The JRF students can avail of the fellowship for 2 years and if the research work is progressive then the students can continue as SRF for another 3 years. The scholarship is also applicable to PwD students who belong to the OBC category (they get 3% reservation out of 300 slots). The selected students also receive allowances such as HRA, medical, and leave apart from the scholarship stipend
ONGC Scholarship	Oil and Gas Corporate Limited (ONGC) offers 1000 scholarships to OBC and economically backward general students who are in their first year of graduation or post-graduation course. The students are awarded a maintenance allowance of INR 4,000 per month.
Post-matric Scholarship	The aim of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students studying in the post-matric or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. This is a 100% centrally sponsored scheme implemented through State governments and Union territories. The scholars are paid non-refundable fees (for tuition, games, union, library, etc), charges for study tours, and thesis typing. The OBC candidates belonging to one state but pursuing the course in another state are awarded a scholarship by competing authorities in that state. The government has spent about INR 720 crores on this scholarship and lakhs of students have been awarded it.
Pre-matric Scholarship	The objective of the scheme is to motivate OBC students studying at the pre-matric stage in government schools or private schools recognized by appropriate authorities to pursue a quality education. The students receive a monthly stipend of up to INR 500 per annum. The scholarship is tenable only in institutions that have been recognized by State Governments or Union Territory administration. Also, there is a 50% contribution of the Central Government in this scheme. The governments have spent INR 79 Lacs of rupees through this fellowship.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must follow the following scholarship eligibility criteria in order to apply for it:-

Merit Scholarship for OBC Students (Delhi)	Students from class 6th to 12th are eligible Candidates pursuing professional courses should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in their Class 12 or equivalent. The income of the family from all sources should not exceed INR 2,00,000
National fellowship for OBC	Candidates must belong to the OBC category with documents to support the same Total family income from all sources should not be over INR 6,00,000 Must have completed post-graduation Transgender candidates are eligible to apply. Reservation shall be provided as per the norms laid out by the Government of India. Candidates who are already registered for Ph.D./ MPhil are eligible for the award of the fellowship. Selection is made based on the merit of the candidate.
ONGC Scholarship	Candidates must be pursuing their 1st year in professional courses such as engineering or medicine. Candidates pursuing an MBA are also eligible. Candidates pursuing a master’s in Geophysics or Geology are eligible as well. Candidates must have secured not less than 60% marks in their class 12. The courses the candidates opt for must be recognized by the AICTE The upper age limit should be under 30 years of age.
Post-matric Scholarship	Primarily eligibility criteria are that students have to be from the OBC category. Other eligibility criteria vary according to the respective state.
Pre-matric Scholarship	The scholarship is sanctioned to students whose family annual income does not exceed INR 2.5 Lakh per annum. For applicants in Delhi, the annual family income limit is INR 44,500 per annum (for even more financially weaker students).

Application Procedure Under OBC Scholarship

Central Sector Scheme for National Overseas	Candidates are required to obtain an application form from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Fill in the required details and attach relevant documents mentioned in the application. Send it back to the Ministry after completing all required processes. Employed candidates are required to send the application form through their employers. Such candidates are also required to attach their tax assessment details and salary slip.
Merit Scholarship for OBC Students (Delhi)	Candidates need to visit e-District Delhi and fill in the required details. The process is done entirely online as no offline application form exists. Relevant documents, such as income certificate, caste certificate, bank passbook (copy), fee receipt, passport size photo, and Aadhar card are to be uploaded.
