FINNOVATION Fellowship is looking for individuals who are knowledgeable and passionate about a social or environmental problem and dedicated to tackling this issue through entrepreneurship. Ideal FINN Fellows have the drive to be great leaders that can bridge the gap between social change and business with an ability to embrace the ups and downs of personal growth and entrepreneurship. A willingness to consider feedback and flexibility in thinking are essential.
In addition to these, here are other qualities that we look for:
- Innovation – your idea represents a truly unique approach to addressing the problem.
- Impact Potential – this idea could potentially be scaled to impact many individual lives, a community, or systems/structures.
- Financial Sustainability – your business will generate revenue by filling the need of paying customers.
- Entrepreneurial – you’re realistic about what it means to be an entrepreneur and have demonstrated such qualities as being proactive and a self-starter, resilient, and critical thinker.
- Continuous Learner – you are curious, a great listener, reflective, and have the ability to admit mistakes and apply learning to future situations.
- Leadership – you have demonstrated leadership skills (such as empathy, inspiring/motivating others to action, strategic/forward-thinking, ability to bridge differences in opinion, and self-awareness), and have the desire to further grow as a leader.
FINNOVATION Fellowship 2023 for Impact driven Entrepreneurs
The FINNOVATION Fellowship program helps early-stage social entrepreneurs develop leadership and entrepreneurial abilities. Its mission, as supported by the Bush Foundation, is to inspire, empower, and connect social entrepreneurs.
An intensive nine-month program will prepare leaders in Minnesota and beyond.
The Impact Entrepreneur Fellowship is a nine-month incubator and fellowship program for impact entrepreneurs who:
- Are you curious about the context and causes of some of the world’s most serious issues
- Are keen to build novel business models to tackle challenges in new ways and are enthusiastic about leveraging an entrepreneurial concept to have a major social or environmental effect
- Also are dedicated to realizing their leadership potential.
- They require a runway of assistance to get their business off the ground.

Objective of FINNOVATION Fellowship for Impact-driven Entrepreneurs
The FINNOVATION Fellowship supports impact-driven entrepreneurs as they lead and launch sustainable and innovative businesses. The fellowship program helps to build leadership and entrepreneurial skills in early-stage social entrepreneurs. Supported by the Bush Foundation, its goal is to inspire, equip, and connect social business leaders in Minnesota and beyond through an immersive nine-month program.
Benefits of FINNOVATION Fellowship for Impact driven Entrepreneurs
INCUBATION: A dedicated workstation at FINNOVATION Lab and Impact Hub MSP, a collaborative work on the top floor of the FINNEGANS House in downtown Minneapolis.
FUNDING: For the nine-month Fellowship, each fellow will receive a $50,000 full-time living stipend and a $3,000 healthcare stipend to cover living expenses and set-up fees.
MENTORSHIP: Each Fellow will have access to a network of mentors, which will be made up of a mix of seasoned entrepreneurs and industry professionals recruited through FINNOVATION Lab’s skills-based volunteering efforts with local businesses and university collaborations.
CURRICULUM: Fellows will attend one or two curated curriculum days each week and will have access to a variety of tools and resources to aid in their learning and business model development.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants that have an excellent proposal and are at least 18 years old are eligible to participate. There are no educational requirements for applicants, and citizenship is not required.
- They’re seeking leaders with big ideas and the ability to put them into action. Applicants must be audacious enough to believe they can solve an intractable problem while also being modest enough to listen to comments and put their ideas to the test.
- Willing to fail in order to learn, yet with the perseverance to try again
- Individuals who apply for the FINNOVATION Fellowship have identified a social problem they are passionate about solving and have produced (at the very least) a hypothesis (or “idea”) for a possible business.

- Show up prepared, present, and ready to participate. Help build a healthy community through respect and engagement.
- Work with the process and be proactive. We have intentionally designed a process to support entrepreneurial growth, and parts of that process may be new to you or uncomfortable. Communication and accountability help us support you.

- The homepage will appear on your screen where you have to click on the Apply Now link.
- A new page will open where you have to enter your few details to check whether you are eligible for the fellowship or not.
- On the page you have filled in your Name, Email, how you know about the FIINOVATION Fellowship, Age, and a few more.
- After filling in all details click on the Finish button.
