About PA Sangma Fellowship for Legal & Policy Research 2023
PA Sangama was the former Chief Minister of Meghalaya and speaker of Lok Sabha. The Meghalaya Government has signed an agreement with the National Law School of India University for setting up PA Sangam policy research. NLSIU vice-chancellor Sudhir Krishnaswami emphasized the need for providing greater exposure to students, which will encourage time to gain practical experience for the future. NLSIU conducted extensive research on topics like “Labour and Work”; ‘State Capacity and Reform’: Legal System Reform’: and ‘Law Technology and Society: in the past, it has also worked with the Central government and other state governments to build centers to study marginalized communities. The fellowship resonates well with the institute’s track record of insightful research, since Meghalaya, which has seen a series of reforms in recent years, is the home to a large portion of Scheduled Tribes in India.

Objective of PA Sangma Fellowship for Legal and Policy Research
It will help the students in gaining experience in the current challenges of law and policy, besides providing capacity-building programs in training for law officers and officials of other departments of the government.
The purpose of this Fellowship Programme is to have a student and graduates and people who are following graduation and post-graduation at the National Law School of India, Bangalore work with the Government of India. This partnership capacity building was initiated for law officers of the law department and other departments of the state government.
